The Consumer Lending Institute is a two-day program designed to provide lenders and support staff with a thorough overview of consumer credit. Attendees use case studies to reinforce lectures with practical application. Each attendee receives a workbook and sample forms for reference. Class discussion and participation are an important part of the learning experience for attendees of this program.
Measuring Risk: Using a judgment-based decision process to underwrite consumer credit applications fairly and effectively.
Making Exceptions: When and how to use your judgment on those close calls, and why documenting your decision is so important.
Personal Financial Statements: When to ask for them, and how to interpret them to get an accurate overall picture of an applicant’s financial status.
Tax Return Analysis: When to ask for them, how to analyze a small business owner’s tax returns, and understanding the difference between listed taxable income and actual cash income.
Credit Reports: How to read them, how to evaluate them, and legal hassles you will want to avoid.
This program is designed for new or experienced consumer lenders, loan review personnel and support staff.

Student notebooks containing curriculum materials are provided at registration. Attendees register on Tuesday, September 18 from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. Classes will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. each day.
The registration fees for this two-day program is $395 before August 1 and $425 after August 1 for The Alabama Bankers Association members and $695 before August 1 and $725 after August 1 for nonmembers. Registration fees include instruction, materials, refreshments and lunch.
Full registration fees will be refunded if a cancellation is received on or before ten days prior to the program. If date of cancellation is less than ten business days prior to the program, a $100 processing fee will be retained. No refunds will be given the day of the program. Substitutions are welcome. All cancellations and substitutions must be received in writing.
