RCI provides extensive, hands-on training that equips attendees with the knowledge needed to develop and maintain a compliance program, to independently research compliance issues, and to resolve compliance problems. The school is designed to alert students of the most pressing compliance matters and common compliance errors in our complex environment, as well as to instruct students on the basics of laws and regulations included in most national certification examinations.
RCI is specifically designed to benefit employees at all levels in the bank - from the bank's legal counsel to tellers and loan officers. This is accomplished by providing general information on the technical requirements of the various compliance regulations. Further, the instructors provide examples of common areas of misunderstanding that lead to compliance violations. Please call the Association office at (334) 834-1890 if you have questions.
The course consists of four and one-half days beginning Monday, April 14 at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until Friday, April 18 at 12:00 p.m. Classes will begin at 9:00 a.m. each day and end at 4:00 p.m. each day. The curriculum has been divided into three separate modules to adhere to the needs of individual banks. Students are required to attend all scheduled classes for which they are enrolled during the session. The Deposit and Lending Sessions will be conducted by Metavante Regulatory Services (formerly Kirchman Regulatory Service). The Management Session will be conducted by Charlene Godwin, CRCM, CRP.

The Fundamentals Session is designed for individuals with compliance responsibility that generally have less than five years of compliance-related experience. This seminar is also an excellent “refresher” for someone with more experience.
Note: While either session can be taken alone, both sessions compliment one another. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you register for both sessions to receive the maximum benefit.

Bankers know that successful lenders manager risk effectively. Most bankers do a good job of containing credit, rate and environmental risk. But all too often, regulatory compliance risk is not “managed” very well. Compliance failures can cost a bank dearly both in dollars lost and in a damaged public image. During the loan session, the topics that are covered are what you need to know how to manager compliance risk with:
- Appraisals and Appraisal Standards
- Fair Credit Reporting Act
- Flood Insurance
- Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act
- Regulation AA—Unfair of Deceptive Acts or Practices
- Regulation B—Equal Credit Opportunity
- Regulation BB—Community Reinvestment
- Regulation C—Home Mortgage Disclosure
- Regulation O—Loans to Insiders
- Regulation Z—Truth in Lending
- Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act
- Private Mortgage Insurance Requirements
- Real Estate Lending Standards
- Regulation U—Lending on Margin Stock
Useful guidance will be provided by a real-life compliance officer who has endured constant regulatory changes, management and co-worker wrath directed at the “messenger,” challenges related to company growth, and regulatory compliance examinations. Charlene has been in banking for 27 years, 18 of those dedicated to compliance. She will bring to the classroom a wealth of information from her hands-on experience having “been there, done that.” Compliance Management must be structured to fit a bank’s requirements, it is not a one-size-fits-all plan. She will discuss various topics to assist you in developing, administering, or fine-tuning an effective compliance management program for your bank.
The participants who attend the entire week of RCI-the lending session, deposit session, and management session-will receive an RCI certificate. Those attending either the lending session or deposit session will receive a certificate for the portion of the Institute they attend. Participants who leave early or who do not attend the entirety of their session(s) will not receive a certificate. Certificates will be available at the end of the session(s).
The total enrollment cost of RCI is $600 for Association members. A $50 discount will be applied to all full-week registrations received before March 1, 2008, reducing the cost to $550 for those applicants. Two individuals from the same bank may split the full registration with one attending the lending session, one attending the deposit session. Registration is also available for each session individually at the cost of $400 for Association members with a $25 discount for those registering before March 31.
Full registration fees will be refunded if a cancellation is received on or before ten business days prior to the meeting. If date of cancellation is less than ten days prior to the meeting, a $100 processing fee will be retained. No refunds will be given for cancellations made the day of the program. Substitutions are welcomed. All cancellations must be received in writing either via fax or email.
Tuition does not include hotel room, and attendees should make their own room reservations.
