Real Estate Lending Compliance Seminar

February 12 - 13, 2008
ABA Training Room
Montgomery, Alabama

9 a.m. - 4 p.m., both days
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Congress has consistently provided special protection to borrowers who secure loans with their home. As a result, real estate lending is by far the most complex and confusing type of lending.

Comprehensive coverage of the real estate lending requirements of each regulation is provided, along with policy suggestions, employee training tips, audit techniques and steps to eliminate past problems. Emphasis is placed on coverage and exemption rules, determining which disclosures are required and the content of the required disclosures.

Every year major changes appear and this year is no exception, with the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act and FACT Act revisions leading the list.

Topics
The following regulations are covered:

  • Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B)
  • Fair Housing Act
  • Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (Regulation C)
  • Homeowners Protection Act
  • Flood Disaster Protection Act – includes a review of proposed legislation to amend the Act
  • Fair Credit Reporting Act – includes a review of the FACT Act major revisions including the new Red Flag Regulations (Effective November 1, 2008) and the new Affiliate Marketing Rules (Effective October 1, 2008)
  • Truth in Lending Act (Regulation Z) - includes the new CHARM booklet (Effective October 1, 2007) and recent TIL changes contained in the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005
Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (Regulation X)
  • John Warner National Defense Appropriations Act – includes the new rules for consumer loans to service members (Effective October 1, 2007)
