Director, Marketing & Communications

 

Position Overview
The Marketing & Communications Director oversees the overall marketing efforts for the Bank with primary responsibility for formulating and implementing the strategic marketing plan with the purpose of achieving the Bank’s profitability and market share goals. The Director insures that the needs of priority market segments are defined and fulfilled while maintaining Bank Independent’s competitive positioning as a progressive, high quality provider of financial services. Duties and responsibilities also include administration of the Bank’s tactical marketing and communications activities. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Marketing Planning – Lead and control the development of marketing and operating plans to achieve the marketing and financial goals. Direct timely execution of research, analysis, advertising / direct marketing and merchandising programs.
  • Market Research – Direct marketing research activities with a view of determining problem areas and opportunities and recommending actions to improve the Bank's performance. Perform market studies to determine opportunities for growth, identify target markets and solve problems. 
  • Product Management – Work with other Bank managers to design, develop and implement new or enhanced Bank products. This includes but is not limited to the Bank’s asset, liability, fee-income products as well as ATMs, web site, and telephone banking services.
  • Pricing – Participate in the development of pricing policies / strategies while continuously monitoring the marketplace to adjust product portfolio pricing as appropriate.
  • Advertising & Promotion – Coordinate all aspects of the Bank’s advertising and promotional efforts to support the Bank’s marketing plan.
  • Direct Marketing --   Manage all direct mail, email / online marketing, telemarketing and micro-marketing planning and implementation.
  • Communications / Community Relations – Handle communications and publicity to develop favorable relations with employees, the community and news media. 
  • Corporate Identity – Oversee the Bank’s brand identity  including managing and policing the Bank's corporate identity program, establishing and maintaining corporate standards (i.e., monitoring of graphic standards and signage).
  • Sales Support & Promotion -- Manage and direct all sales promotions, point-of-sale merchandising, brochure and other collateral support, newsletters, sales incentive campaigns, regulatory communications / notices, and forms. 
  • Budgeting – Develop and monitor the Bank’s Marketing & Communications budget to meet the Bank’s objectives. 

 

Job Requirements
The Marketing & Communications Manager must possess the following skills:

  • Ability to supervise teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as an ability to interface at all levels of the Bank
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Prior management responsibilities
  • Proven experience with budgeting and financial planning
  • Familiarity with retail / commercial banking (3 years experience preferred)

Preferred Skills & Abilities

  • 3 to 5 years prior experience working in a marketing related position
  • Strong understanding of marketing concepts
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or marketing related field (e.g., journalism, communications, etc.)
  • Bank or financial services experience
  • Ability to work well with executive team and cross-functionally
  • Both conceptual and analytical thinking
  • Ability to think strategically while successfully executing tactically
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office 

Compensation
This position is compensated through a combination of base salary, performance incentives and other benefits as established by management.
